Created attachment 494512 [details]
dmesg.txt

Description of problem:
With F15 alpha and beta I see very low performance with my atheros wireless device. Throughput is often below 10kB/s and the network disconnects often.
Even if the netbook is placed right next to the AP.
After disabling power managment with "iwconfig wlan0 power off" things improved a little. Connection still gets reset every few minutes but average throughput is about 100kB/s now.

Stefan, could you try the patch Hauke posted in the linked kernel.org bugzilla?

Comment 2 Stefan Assmann 2011-04-26 12:01:21 UTC
John,
I tried the patch you mentioned and speeds are back to normal. :-)
However I noticed that once in a while transfer stalls for a moment and I found the following in dmesg
[ 114.821716] ath: DMA failed to stop in 10 ms AR_CR=0x00000024 AR_DIAG_SW=0x42000020
[ 114.821731] ath: Could not stop RX, we could be confusing the DMA engine when we start RX up
[ 114.834213] ath: DMA failed to stop in 10 ms AR_CR=0x00000024 AR_DIAG_SW=0x42000020

Comment 3 Stefan Assmann 2011-05-02 12:17:38 UTC
is the patch going to be included in F15?

Comment 4 John W. Linville 2011-05-02 14:25:20 UTC
Just sent email asking for the corresponding commit to be added to stable series for 2.6.38.
