Is this still happening with the latest 2.6.40.x kernel in F15?

Yes. I just have to run "sudo sysprof-cli foo" the trace shows up in dmesg. I don't really notice any harmful effects though.

Ok.  I was able to recreate this in a KVM guest after a while.  I noticed two upstream commits that seem related and in my local testing the issue has gone away after I backported them to the F15 kernel.  I'll include those two patches and they should be in the next rebuild.
