Description Jean-François Fortin Tam 2011-05-01 02:21:36 UTC
--> Finished Dependency Resolution
Error: Package: gnome-python2-applet-2.32.0-1.fc14.i686 (fedora)
           Requires: libpanel-applet-2.so.0

Comment 1 Frank Murphy 2011-05-07 13:41:56 UTC
gnome-schedule appears to be obsoleted by gnome-panel in F15+

Comment 2 Jean-François Fortin Tam 2011-05-07 14:01:21 UTC
Yes but I don't need the panel applet feature of gnome-schedule, I just want the app.

Comment 3 Adam Williamson 2011-05-07 14:37:18 UTC
then someone would have to patch the panel applet out of it.

But would that happen?
I don't use Gnome, but Xfce and Lxde, and G-S was handy.

I manager to install gnome-schedule in F15.

I used F15 Beta XFCE so if your a Gnome user ymmv.

Downloaded  gnome-python2-applet-2.32.0-1.fc14 (i686\x86_64)
from an F14 mirror.

sudo rpm -ivh --nodeps gnome-python2-applet-2.32.0-1.fc14 (i686\x86_64)

then
yum install gnome-schedule --disablerepo=updates*

the I protected gnome-schedule by:

sudo <editor> /etc/yum/protected.d/protect.conf
gnome-schedule
save

and for good measure I did:
edit /etc/yum.conf
exclude=gnome-panel

then:
yum update

Though no a packager.
I rebuilt forr myself as per:
http://lists.fedoraproject.org/pipermail/users/2011-June/398531.html

works fine using yum install on F15 64bit Xfce.

I have mailed upstream and asked for a configure option to disable the applet. If we get a positive response, I will look at resurrecting this package.

Comment 8 Rahul Sundaram 2011-06-24 15:16:30 UTC
Package orphaned. I can consider reviving if upstream responds or I manage to patch it up to disable the applet

Yes, I am aware since I have been coordinating with upstream on this. However this package has been retired now and hence needs to go through a review process again. When I find sometime, I will file a review request. If someone else is interested, feel free to go ahead

I have filed a new review request at bug#733572
