Description of problem:
When running a TUI application such as sndconfig, the text graphics characters 
are displayed as little boxes instead.

How reproducible:
Always

Steps to Reproduce:
1.  Laptop install of the 'Null' beta with both Gnome and KDE.
2.  Log into a KDE session
3.  Start an Xterm window and run sndconfig.  The graphics characters will 
display as little boxes.

What locale?  This is with *xterm*, not konsole or gnome-terminal?

Whoops, sorry.  I meant Konsole not xterm.  I'm located in Los Angeles, 
California, USA.
