Description Levente Farkas 2011-09-18 15:21:41 UTC
if multilline baseurl is in yum repo files it's not working

Comment 1 Richard Hughes 2011-09-18 15:30:08 UTC
I've just merged this:

commit b55044c8862036782d14b41e5c77b32c2fea8823
Author: Richard Hughes <richard>
Date: Sun Sep 18 16:07:23 2011 +0100

    Support non-standard multiline repo files

Yum supports multiline repo files in the format:

    [Fedora]
    name=Fedora
    baseurl=http://download1.fedoraproject.org/
        http://download2.fedoraproject.org/

We need to parse the lines manually and make this acceptable to the
    GKeyFile parser.

    Resolves https://bugzilla.redhat.com/show_bug.cgi?id=739393

Can you please try git master and tell me if this fixes the bug please. Thanks.

Can you attach the output of "zif repo-list -v" please with zif either from git master or from one of my rebuilt srpm please. Thanks.

Comment 4 Levente Farkas 2011-09-20 08:42:51 UTC

Okay, so I've already fixed yesterday with:

commit b3503f57ed558ecadaa121a5a6f70c69d9525547
Author: Richard Hughes <richard>
Date: Mon Sep 19 07:57:27 2011 +0100

Make the repo file parser more permissive to append any string with a whitespace prefix

:100644 100644 e316226... 3ac8fcf... M data/tests/repos/multiline.repo
:100644 100644 5f3524f... a4375fb... M libzif/zif-utils.c

Can you try rebuilding and installing the package from http://people.freedesktop.org/~hughsient/fedora/15/SRPMS/ and retest please.

I've added all your repo files and it seems to work for me with git master.

Thanks.

Comment 6 Levente Farkas 2011-09-20 09:47:45 UTC
still not working:-(

it seems don't detect or understand $releasever

Comment 7 Richard Hughes 2011-09-20 10:52:17 UTC
(In reply to comment #6)
> it seems don't detect or understand $releasever

No, it's the fact that it's FTP. libsoup doesn't understand FTP, so I've had to add support for that in:

commit bab80cec569de43518a1f058d4738e4fbb1c4bdb
Author: Richard Hughes <richard>
Date: Tue Sep 20 11:48:10 2011 +0100

Use wget to download files from FTP servers

FTP is a nasty protocol that libsoup doesn't support. For the few mirrors that
do not redirect to 'http://' use a wget helper to retrieve the file.

Doing this means we don't get any status completion, but there doesn't seem to
be any other credible FTP library other than libcurl. If somebody ported the
hacky wget code to use libcurl then that would be wonderful.

Can you try again with either git master or by rebuilding zif-0.2.4-0.89.20110920git.fc16.src.rpm or newer. Thanks.

do you see the "ise" in stead of "$releasever" in the url???

> do you see the "ise" in stead of "$releasever" in the url???

What does "zif get-config-value releasever" print? What did you expect it to be?

Richard.

Comment 10 Levente Farkas 2011-09-20 12:27:58 UTC
zif get-config-value releasever
Enabling offline mode as user unprivileged.
releasever = 'ise':

while i expect to be 6:-) as it's an rhel-6...

Comment 11 Richard Hughes 2011-09-20 13:32:02 UTC
Ahh, I see the problem. Zif reads the /etc/redhat-release file to get the release version but yum uses the package version of the thing that provides redhat-release. I'll fix this now.

Thanks,

Richard.

Comment 12 Levente Farkas 2011-09-20 13:39:28 UTC
you should have to read the output of:
rpm -q --nosignature --qf "%{VERSION}" --whatprovides redhat-release
because eg on centos etc there is no redhat-release packages!

Comment 13 Richard Hughes 2011-09-20 16:16:43 UTC
Okay, I think I've fixed this with:

commit 76ddb6ea871078a43192816df9913af26f590adc
Author: Richard Hughes <richard>
Date: Tue Sep 20 15:51:13 2011 +0100

Get the releasever from the version of the package that provides redhat-release

Can you try again with either git master or by rebuilding zif-0.2.4-0.92.20110920git.fc16.src.rpm or newer. Thanks.

Sure, I don't disagree. I wasn't the person who opened the feature page, but on the flip side, I've had more bugs reported and more new contributors in the last 4 days than the whole of 2010 and 2011 put together.

I know it might seem a pain to report all these issues, but I really appreciate it from someone who at least knows what gdb and releasever are. Please keep the bugs coming :)

As the one who created the feature page: my testing showed zif as ready for daily usage. The feature was intended for f17, which is more than 6 months away, and a lot can happen (mainly bug fixes) in this kind of time.
Note that fesco agreed on not allowing zif by default for now, and if I understood correctly they won't allow it in the near future. (f17 is out of the question AFAIK, but they might change their minds for f18, who knows).

Thank you for your bug reports. Zif got a lot of new users, attention bug reports and bug fixes in the last few days, mostly (IMO) due to the discussion the feature page led to. This kind of attention is exactly what a free software project need to get into shape quickly.

Have you got the repo file for viduxos-extras-i386 please.

Wow, that's some pretty messed up bt. It's showing random stuff from other strings in the SQL return values.

What happens if you run "sudo valgrind install ddd -n -v" -- can you post the full log please. Thanks.

what do you mean by repo? the the whole repo dir? or ... just a file or...?

The single .repo file. I'll try to setup my el6 VM to reproduce the problem.

That's really helpful, thanks. That's basically showing that sqlite isn't returning NULL terminated string arrays. It doesn't actually say in the sqlite docs that it promises to, and zif happened to rely on that feature. It seems that newer versions do it by default but older (el6...) ones do not.

This commit should get you past the valgrind problems. Can you retry with a newer snapshot that includes:

commit 988bf60f1052c78f5389a9063b075aebe4423eab
Author: Richard Hughes <richard>
Date: Wed Sep 28 13:35:00 2011 +0100

Do not assume that the char** arrays from SQLite are NULL terminated

    Resolves https://bugzilla.redhat.com/show_bug.cgi?id=739393#c24

If that still blows up, can I have the new "valgrind zif install ddd -n -v &>valgrind.out" again please. Thanks.

Richard.

Comment 28 Fedora End Of Life 2013-04-03 19:22:15 UTC
This bug appears to have been reported against 'rawhide' during the Fedora 19 development cycle.
Changing version to '19'.

(As we did not run this process for some time, it could affect also pre-Fedora 19 development
cycle bugs. We are very sorry. It will help us with cleanup during Fedora 19 End Of Life. Thank you.)

More information and reason for this action is here:
https://fedoraproject.org/wiki/BugZappers/HouseKeeping/Fedora19

Comment 29 Fedora End Of Life 2015-01-09 21:52:53 UTC
This message is a notice that Fedora 19 is now at end of life. Fedora
has stopped maintaining and issuing updates for Fedora 19. It is
Fedora's policy to close all bug reports from releases that are no
longer maintained. Approximately 4 (four) weeks from now this bug will
be closed as EOL if it remains open with a Fedora 'version' of '19'.

Package Maintainer: If you wish for this bug to remain open because you
plan to fix it in a currently maintained version, simply change the 'version'
to a later Fedora version.

Thank you for reporting this issue and we are sorry that we were not
able to fix it before Fedora 19 is end of life. If you would still like
to see this bug fixed and are able to reproduce it against a later version
of Fedora, you are encouraged change the 'version' to a later Fedora
version prior this bug is closed as described in the policy above.

Although we aim to fix as many bugs as possible during every release's
lifetime, sometimes those efforts are overtaken by events. Often a
more recent Fedora release includes newer upstream software that fixes
bugs or makes them obsolete.

Comment 30 Fedora End Of Life 2015-02-18 13:37:45 UTC
Fedora 19 changed to end-of-life (EOL) status on 2015-01-06. Fedora 19 is
no longer maintained, which means that it will not receive any further
security or bug fix updates. As a result we are closing this bug.

If you can reproduce this bug against a currently maintained version of
Fedora please feel free to reopen this bug against that version. If you
are unable to reopen this bug, please file a new report against the
current release. If you experience problems, please add a comment to this
bug.

Thank you for reporting this bug and we are sorry it could not be fixed.
