abrt-2.0.7-2.fc16 has been submitted as an update for Fedora 16. https://admin.fedoraproject.org/updates/abrt-2.0.7-2.fc16 Package abrt-2.0.7-2.fc16, libreport-2.0.8-3.fc16: * should fix your issue, * was pushed to the Fedora 16 testing repository, * should be available at your local mirror within two days. Update it with: # su -c 'yum update --enablerepo=updates-testing abrt-2.0.7-2.fc16 libreport-2.0.8-3.fc16' as soon as you are able to, then reboot. If problems still persist, please make note of it in this bug report. I just got the same error with ABRT 2.0.20-1 on Fedora 18 and an up-to-date system. Needless to say, my kernel isn't tainted. Happened when working with a KVM vrtual machine. Fedora 16 changed to end-of-life (EOL) status on 2013-02-12. Fedora 16 is no longer maintained, which means that it will not receive any further security or bug fix updates. As a result we are closing this bug. If you can reproduce this bug against a currently maintained version of Fedora please feel free to reopen this bug against that version. Thank you for reporting this bug and we are sorry it could not be fixed. As I recently stated, the bug is still there with an up-to-date kernel in Fedora 18. The kernel is considered tainted after the first warning, so are you really sure your kernel is not tainted? Can you attach output of: $ cat /proc/sys/kernel/tainted ? Yes, it says '0'. I know exactly what I have installed, so there is no way that I could have some proprietary module. That's why it seems so curious to me. Like I said in c#13 it's not just about installed modules, the kernel is tainted when a warning (kernel oops) is issued. All oopses after the first one are marked as notreportable and your kernel stays tainted until you restart the machine. If you're sure that abrt says your kernel is tainted even in case of the first oops after restart then it's a bug in abrt. Fedora 16 changed to end-of-life (EOL) status on 2013-02-12.
