I believe there were some fixes upstream in the 3.2 or 3.3 kernel for an issue similar to this. Do you have this problem with the 3.2.7 or newer kernels? [mass update] kernel-3.3.0-4.fc16 has been pushed to the Fedora 16 stable repository. Please retest with this update. [mass update] kernel-3.3.0-4.fc16 has been pushed to the Fedora 16 stable repository. Please retest with this update. i have removed nolapic_timer from my boot options, and with the 3.2.10 kernel it seems to not hang any more. I'll close this for now, and hope that it does not show up again. thanks sorry. this is still happening, now with 3.3.4-3.fc17.i686 in fedora 17. here you can see it happening at boot: [ 7.704776] SELinux: initialized (dev tmpfs, type tmpfs), uses transition SIDs [ 7.712256] SELinux: initialized (dev cgroup, type cgroup), uses genfs_contexts [ 7.941254] SELinux: initialized (dev cgroup, type cgroup), uses genfs_contexts [ 7.949245] SELinux: initialized (dev cgroup, type cgroup), uses genfs_contexts [ 7.957278] SELinux: initialized (dev cgroup, type cgroup), uses genfs_contexts [ 7.965203] SELinux: initialized (dev cgroup, type cgroup), uses genfs_contexts [ 7.973190] SELinux: initialized (dev cgroup, type cgroup), uses genfs_contexts [ 7.981212] SELinux: initialized (dev cgroup, type cgroup), uses genfs_contexts [ 7.989325] SELinux: initialized (dev cgroup, type cgroup), uses genfs_contexts [ 7.997176] SELinux: initialized (dev cgroup, type cgroup), uses genfs_contexts [ 57.174709] SELinux: initialized (dev autofs, type autofs), uses genfs_contexts [ 57.234365] SELinux: initialized (dev tmpfs, type tmpfs), uses transition SIDs [ 57.324798] SELinux: initialized (dev hugetlbfs, type hugetlbfs), uses transition SIDs [ 57.407654] SELinux: initialized (dev securityfs, type securityfs), uses genfs_contexts [ 57.607099] SELinux: initialized (dev configfs, type configfs), uses genfs_contexts [ 57.629257] EXT4-fs (sda3): re-mounted. Opts: discard # Mass update to all open bugs. Kernel 3.6.2-1.fc16 has just been pushed to updates. This update is a significant rebase from the previous version. Please retest with this kernel, and let us know if your problem has been fixed. In the event that you have upgraded to a newer release and the bug you reported is still present, please change the version field to the newest release you have encountered the issue with. Before doing so, please ensure you are testing the latest kernel update in that release and attach any new and relevant information you may have gathered. If you are not the original bug reporter and you still experience this bug, please file a new report, as it is possible that you may be seeing a different problem. (Please don't clone this bug, a fresh bug referencing this bug in the comment is sufficient). With no response, we are closing this bug under the assumption that it is no longer an issue. If you still experience this bug, please feel free to reopen the bug report. |
