Description Txe 2011-12-08 17:57:34 UTC
Description of problem:
I was using SL6.0 not too much ago with no problems at all (testing before
installing it to my HD) but since automatically updating to SL6.1 and restart, I
can't connect to internet by wireless. Wired connection:OK.

Version-Release number of selected component (if applicable): iwl3945-firmware version:15.32.2.9 as see further below at (***)

Steps to Reproduce:
I tried some commands as followings:
1.#yum check-update iwl3945-firmware.arch;
2.and #yum -reinstall [firmware] with no changes at all.
3.I also tried to update NetworkManager Applet from 0.8.1 to 0.9 and 0.8.4 but
installation abort with same output for both cases: "intool too old (...)" or
something like that (sorry I didn't write down the exact output)

Actual results:
Network Manager Applet says -device no ready

Comment 5 Stanislaw Gruszka 2012-01-13 14:40:03 UTC
I do not see any bug here. At least not in iwl3945. There is no error message is dmesg, wlan0 device is created.

This seems to be configuration issue, eventually NetworkManager problem. Check if /etc/sysconfig/network-scripts/ifcfg-wlan0 has NM_CONTROLLED="yes" entry and NetworkManager applet has "Enable Wireless" enabled marked.

I'm reassigning the but to NetworkManager.

Comment 6 Jirka Klimes 2012-01-26 10:49:58 UTC
Please show us these:
$ rpm -q NetworkManager
$ rpm -q NetworkManager-gnome
$ nmcli dev
$ nmcli nm
$ nmcli con list

Comment 8 RHEL Program Management 2012-05-03 05:39:26 UTC
Since RHEL 6.3 External Beta has begun, and this bug remains
unresolved, it has been rejected as it is not proposed as
exception or blocker.

Red Hat invites you to ask your support representative to
propose this request, if appropriate and relevant, in the
next release of Red Hat Enterprise Linux.
