Description Ghislain Vaillant 2011-12-14 17:45:54 UTC
Description of problem:
I installed Eric4 by EPEL. Firing up Eric4 from the gnome menu does not do anything. When launched from the command line, it throws a Python package import error for missing QtWebkit bindings.

Version-Release number of selected component (if applicable):
eric-4.4.3-1.el6.x86_64

Steps to Reproduce:
1. Install Eric4 from EPEL (yum install --enablerepo=epel eric)
2. Start Eric4 from the Gnome menu or the command line interface

Actual results:
Nothing happens (Gnome menu), Import error (CLI)

Expected results:
Eric GUI should start.

Additional info:
Same problem happens for other software relying on QtWebkit, such as spyderlib for example. Together with Eric4, these are 2 very good Python IDE for scientific computing not working in EL6.

Oh boo, el6's PyQt4 certainly does lack QtWebKit bindings.

I'll look into if we can rectify this somehow.
