*** Bug 827270 has been marked as a duplicate of this bug. *** For anyone needing to migrate to F17, what are we supposed to do? The Fedora page on migrating via yum does not recommend the yum distro-sync method because of the move to consolidate everything under /usr. Will there be an update image released? Thanks. FWIW, despite the warnings, I found the yum method to be the most reliable of all the upgrade possibilities. By following the UsrMove instructions on the wiki anyone can do it. Both Anaconda and preupgrade have failed me in several ways, leaving me in difficult to fix situations. This particular bug in Anaconda can be avoided by temporarily commenting out some of the mountpoints in fstab. My advice for you both is to comment out your bind mounts in /etc/fstab, do the upgrade, and then uncomment the bind mounts. Whichever one of you has a bunch /dev/mdX in your /etc/fstab, that's probably not going to work, either. You should use UUIDs for that since mdadm uses odd naming/numbering at install time. This message is a reminder that Fedora 17 is nearing its end of life. Approximately 4 (four) weeks from now Fedora will stop maintaining and issuing updates for Fedora 17. It is Fedora's policy to close all bug reports from releases that are no longer maintained. At that time this bug will be closed as WONTFIX if it remains open with a Fedora 'version' of '17'. Package Maintainer: If you wish for this bug to remain open because you plan to fix it in a currently maintained version, simply change the 'version' to a later Fedora version prior to Fedora 17's end of life.
