Description Kamil Páral 2012-09-03 09:38:21 UTC
Created attachment 609307 [details]
offline installation prohibited

Description of problem:
See attached screenshot.

This is what happens if you either
1) don't have any network card
or
2) go to the Network spoke and switch off the ethernet card (I don't have any more cards)

The installation can't continue even though I have all the packages available on DVD.

I also made sure I checked "Don't install updates" checkbox, didn't help.

Version-Release number of selected component (if applicable):
Fedora 18 Alpha TC5
anaconda 18.6.4

How reproducible:
always

Comment 1 Kamil Páral 2012-09-03 09:40:28 UTC
It also most probably applies if you have a NIC and don't switch it off, but you don't have the physical connection to it.

Comment 2 Kamil Páral 2012-09-03 09:42:10 UTC
We don't really have any offline installation criteria AFAIK. I believe this is undoubtedly a blocker, but I'm not sure which milestone. Let's discuss.

Comment 3 Adam Williamson 2012-09-05 16:54:03 UTC
Discussed at 2012-09-05 blocker review meeting. Accepted as a blocker as a conditional infringement of criterion "The installer must be able to complete package installation with the default package set for each supported installation method", in the case that you have no network connection - the 'default package set' install would fail for DVD or live install. We did note that an explicit criterion for offline install may be a good idea.

Comment 4 Radek Vykydal 2012-09-06 11:12:52 UTC
This should be fixed in master.

I tested F18 Alpha RC2 - DVD and Live, with and without NIC - in VM. The installation now works offline.
