Description Dwaine Thomas 2003-03-10 21:25:16 UTC
From Bugzilla Helper:
User-Agent: Mozilla/5.0 (X11; U; Linux i686; en-US; rv:1.0.1) Gecko/20021003

Description of problem:
edited /etc/sendmail.mc and commented out the following two lines,
dn1 DAEMON_OPTIONS(`Port=smtp,Addr=127.0.0.1, Name=MTA')
dn1 DAEMON_OPTIONS(`port=smtp,Addr=::1, Name=MTA-v6, Family=inet6')

ran the M4...no errors. restarted sendmail(/etc/init.d/sendmail restart).

sent email to this machine, but did not get email. looked at /etc/sendmail.cf
and at the very end was the problem,

# SMTP daemon options

O DaemonPortOptions=Port=smtp,Addr=127.0.0.1, Name=MTA
O DaemonPortOptions=port=smtp,Addr=::1, Name=MTA-v6, Family=inet6

these two lines should have been commented out from the M4. I manually
commented these out(although, you advise not to edit this file) and now I get
email.  Bug in the M4?

You realize in your "Description of problem" you are commenting out with
dn[one] not dn[el] - it's correctly dn[el] - "dnl".  Is this just a typo in
the bug report or what's actually in the .mc file?

Comment 2 Dwaine Thomas 2003-03-17 15:54:00 UTC
mitch was correct. I had inserted by mistake dn1 and not dnl
for the two DAEMON...lines in the sendmail.mc file. I now put dnl in the .mc
file, recompiled with M4, restarted sendmail, and it works; checked the
sendmail.cf file and the appropriate lines are commented out. Thanks for
catching this.
