Description Tim Waugh 2000-01-21 17:33:01 UTC
With a workstation installation, inetd is not installed. However, rpm lets
you install samba-2.0.6, but the post script fails with '/etc/inetd.conf:
No such file or directory'. Either samba should depend on inetd (I think
that makes sense for most people) or elsethe message should be something
like 'You haven't installed inetd, so samba will run as a separate daemon'.

Comment 1 Bill Nottingham 2000-01-21 21:52:59 UTC
Samba doesn't run in inetd; it's trying to add its swat tool.

This makes me wonder why I'm even bothering adding a disabled
line. Killed in samba-2.0.6-5.

Oh, right. In that case, speaking from a support point of view, I'd rather that
line was left in -- it's very useful! Telling people how to uncomment a line is
a lot easier than telling them to type it in from scratch..
