With a workstation installation, inetd is not installed. However, rpm lets you install samba-2.0.6, but the post script fails with '/etc/inetd.conf: No such file or directory'. Either samba should depend on inetd (I think that makes sense for most people) or elsethe message should be something like 'You haven't installed inetd, so samba will run as a separate daemon'.
Samba doesn't run in inetd; it's trying to add its swat tool. This makes me wonder why I'm even bothering adding a disabled line. Killed in samba-2.0.6-5.
Oh, right. In that case, speaking from a support point of view, I'd rather that line was left in -- it's very useful! Telling people how to uncomment a line is a lot easier than telling them to type it in from scratch..
