syslog-ng-3.3.8-0.1.el6: current selinux-policy-3.7.19-155.el6_3.14 violations

----------
#============= syslogd_t ==============
allow syslogd_t anon_inodefs_t:file { write read };
allow syslogd_t self:process { getcap setcap };
----------

Notes:
 * a couple of selinux policies need to be backported from Fedora
 * temporary workaround for the linux capabilities selinux violations -
   build syslog-ng without enabling linux-caps

I've just sent an email to one of the Balabit's contacts requesting additional information about the future of the syslog-ng 3.3 support in face of the pending release of version 3.5.

Comment 12 Joseph Yaworski 2014-08-15 15:21:45 UTC
Is there a mirror for these SRPMs? The site doesn't appear to be responsive at the moment.

Also, is there progress on putting this in EPEL?

Comment 13 Peter Czanik 2014-08-16 06:09:47 UTC
There are two problems:

- discussed off bugzilla: current EPEL policy prohibits package updates, if it involves configuration editing, unless there is a known security issue with it. I'm not aware of any.

- I don't have a copy of the updated EPEL packages

What I can do, is to provide EPEL6 packages in Copr, the Fedora build service. The easiest / fastest would be to update the latest srpm from JPO, if he still has it somewhere. Other way I can put it on my ToDo list, but it's a long list, so would be a few weeks away.

Comment 14 Joseph Yaworski 2014-08-18 12:56:59 UTC
Peter:

Thanks for the response. COPR would work for me in the event that JPO doesn't get those SRPMs hosted elsewhere.

Thanks a lot.

In case you were wondering, I'm specifically looking for the mongodb functionality in newer versions of syslog-ng.

Comment 15 Peter Czanik 2014-08-19 13:41:22 UTC
Until JPO shows up with more proper SRPMs, I prepared a package for RHEL6. From the changelog:

* Tue Aug 19 2014 Peter Czanik <czanik> - 3.5.6-2
- adopt EPEL7 package to EPEL6 by messing all possible
  packaging guidelines
- bundling missing libraries
- /usr/sbin in RHEL6
- etc.

So use at your own risk, and let me know, if you run into any trouble.

Comment 16 Peter Czanik 2014-08-19 13:43:02 UTC
I only forgot to add the download location:

http://copr.fedoraproject.org/coprs/czanik/syslog-ng35epel6/

Comment 17 John McGee 2014-10-01 18:50:20 UTC
I am also interested in this as it appears that the threaded option for multi-threaded support is not available in the currently packaged version (3.2.x)

Comment 18 Fábio Tramasoli 2014-10-15 20:38:05 UTC
Plus one interested in this for the same reason John from Comment 17 :)

Thanks

Comment 19 Matthias Runge 2018-07-09 07:57:17 UTC
Apparently, nobody worked on this. Closing for now.
