Description of problem:
Gparted wont launch. if launched from gnome-shell there is a password popup, after entering the password an pressing enter, nothing happens. if run from a terminal i get password popup, and then the message

$ gparted
No protocol specified
(gpartedbin:7585): Gtk-WARNING **: cannot open display: :0

i get the same error if i run sudo gparted

Version-Release number of selected component (if applicable):
gparted.x86_64 0:0.12.0-4.fc18
Fedora release 18 (Spherical Cow)

How reproducible:
everytime

Steps to Reproduce:
1. launch gparted
2. enter password
3. nothing happens
  
Actual results:
nothing happens

Expected results:
gparted launch

reassigned to gdm


running a downgrade on gdm fixes the issue here


su
yum downgrade gdm*


others are also having gdm issues with gdm-3.6.2-4.fc18

gdm-3.6.2-5.fc18 fixed my problem reported in 888985.

Package gdm-3.6.2-5.fc18:
* should fix your issue,
* was pushed to the Fedora 18 testing repository,
* should be available at your local mirror within two days.
Update it with:
# su -c 'yum update --enablerepo=updates-testing gdm-3.6.2-5.fc18'
as soon as you are able to.

The broken build came post-freeze and is not nominated as NTH or blocker, so there is no need for this to be NTH.
