Here some additional information to this bug: If I change the setting in the HP computer to "Legacy Support = Enabled" which results at the same time "UEFI = Disabled" then the grub comes up from the USB stick and the Fedora 18 Live Image is loaded correctly. My interpretation: This confirms that the USB stick is correctly setup and the problem is with UEFI I just gave it another try with Fedora-18-TC3-x86_64-Live-Desktop.iso I generated a bootable USB-Stick with another computer under Fedora 17 with: "livecd-iso-to-disk --format --reset-mbr --efi Fedora-18-TC3-x86_64-Live-Desktop.iso /dev/sdg" whereas /dev/sdg is the unmounted USB stick I then inserted the USB stick in the HP-Laptop and booted: ... and it worked perfectly :-)) . Grub loaded and the started Linux correctly. Perfect!! (Let's see what will happen next) This is clearly SB. Beta images did not have the MS signature; Final TC3 onwards does. Closing as a dupe of the 'shim is not signed' bug, as that was essentially the 'bug' here. *** This bug has been marked as a duplicate of bug 872272 *** |
