Description Sander Salazar 2013-01-18 02:04:34 UTC
Description of problem:
With the redesigned installer, I can't chose individual packages from the "Software Selection" section. The abstraction of the software groups, though it has its beauty, is highly ineffective when we consider that people may only want a single package out of a group. I, for example, am not able to install KDE with some GTK+ packages, like firefox, with the current design.

This customization was a valuable feature to me, since I, for one, have to use the DVD to install Fedora/Red Hat in offline machines or with low bandwidth. The extra unwanted packages that end up coming with the groups are also a problem.

I know I can use the DVD after the system install to get the packages I want, but I'd find it really pleasing if the more advanced selection could come back, even if hidden.

How reproducible:
100%

Steps to Reproduce:
1. Try to install Fedora 18 from the DVD.
2. Get to the Software Selection section.
3. Try to install individual packages.

Actual results:
The only options of choice are the environment and a really restricted list of add-ons.

Expected results:
Be able to select different groups or individual packages even if they don't belong to the chosen environment.
