I managed to resolve this. If I right clicked on the kmix in the notification area and brought up Audio set up, it would bring up the Sound and Video Configuration dialog, but it had an individual device for each one of my sound card's output devices. I thought that was odd, but I couldn't figure out why. I started up the System Settings from the KDE menu, and closed the Sound and Video Configuration module, so it could open it up in the System Settings window, and then the device preferneces were much different. They showed a PulseAudio Sound Server, which is what I expected there to be. Then suddenly I'm able to play music again. I'll double check after a reboot to make sure everything is still sane. Not sure how this happened. Yeah, sure enough, once getting it done, it's persisted and now everything is fine. Strangest glitch ever. |
