(In reply to comment #0) > This used to work just fine. Used to work when/where? In previous Fedora or bash-completion versions or...? > Moreover assumptions that a zip archive needs to have a .zip suffix, and > other similar of that sort, are clearly DOA. Quite annoying, in fact. If you disagree with what bash-completion offers, you can get rid of it by just removing the package. Or if you wish to override it on per completion basis at runtime and revert to what plain bash would complete, hit Alt+/ instead of where you'd normally hit Tab. In the future, please report separate issues in separate bugs, thanks. In this case, the zip remark has nothing to do with the cpio non-completion. The cpio completion is marginally better wrt recognizing pass thru mode now in upstream git. I'm assuming that by "used to work just fine" you meant setups where bash-completion wasn't installed as the cpio completion in bash-completion seems to be a quite weak one and hasn't been touched in ages. http://anonscm.debian.org/gitweb/?p=bash-completion/bash-completion.git;a=commitdiff;h=eb396b58a709201e61daf2e381abecb411863b2a (In reply to comment #1) > (In reply to comment #0) > > This used to work just fine. > > Used to work when/where? In previous Fedora or bash-completion versions > or...? Yeah, maybe you are right. It surely worked when bash-completion was NOT installed, and bash was doing things on its own, and I possibly remember that situation. I noticed after an upgrade to F18 but it could have been an accident. > If you disagree with what bash-completion offers ... Various things are helpful while other just opposite. I guess that I will have to learn to use that Alt+/ too. > The cpio completion is marginally better wrt recognizing pass thru mode now in upstream git.
