What version of Fedora in the guest VM? Also can you give us the XML for the virtual machine (virsh dumpxml "<VM name>")? Works here with the F17 live CD, I get something that looks like 1024x768. Yes F17 guests seem ok - I see the problem with F18 and F19 guests at least. Created attachment 717413 [details]
virsh dumpxml F18
(I see the large graphics screen size both running qemu-kvm directly and from recent Fedora guests started from Virt Manager.) I had written a small wiki page with workarounds for console and X: https://fedoraproject.org/wiki/Display_resolution_of_Fedora_18_virtual_machines F18 is still affected here, but up2date F19 doesn't have this issue for me anymore with cirrus graphics. Since F18 is end-of-life soon, this issue is unlikely to be fixed there, so closing. Please reopen if anyone can reproduce on newer fedora *** Bug 966226 has been marked as a duplicate of this bug. *** (In reply to Cole Robinson from comment #7) > F18 is still affected here, but up2date F19 doesn't have this issue for me > anymore with cirrus graphics. That's probably due to the following kernel commit (in v3.13-rc1): commit 121a6a17439b000b9699c3fa876636db20fa4107 Author: Gerd Hoffmann <kraxel> Date: Fri Oct 11 10:01:09 2013 +0200 drm/cirrus: use drm_set_preferred_mode Explicitly set 1024x768 as default mode, so the display doesn't come up with the largest supported mode. While being at it drop first three drm_add_modes_noedid calls. As drm_add_modes_noedid fills the mode list with modes from the database *up to* the specified size it is pretty pointless to call it multiple times with different sizes. Signed-off-by: Gerd Hoffmann <kraxel> Signed-off-by: Dave Airlie <airlied> So I agree with the closure; under Fedora 18 the workaround in comment 6 should be available. |
