Description Stuart Blake Tener 2000-02-16 01:24:41 UTC
I have a Dell INSPIRON 7500.
4GB Toshiba HD In internal bay
25GB IBM DARA HD In mega bay

try to boot from 4GB HD (which boots fine when mega bay HD is not
installed!) and I get "L 0A"
and it hangs.

Does anyone know why this is happening?

The megabay is probably causing a reording of your boot devices. Does it work
any better if you install lilo to the partition instead of the mbr?

Since this bug was reported over two years and 4 months ago (achem):

(a) I am shocked at how long it took to address this bug, over two
years!?!!!?! Perhaps I'll have to mention that at the next stockholder meeting
I attend.

(b) no longer have the Dell Inspiron 7500

(c) no longer would be able to locate my copy of RH 6.1 (I use RH 7.3 now)

(d) sold the 4GB HD

(e) now use GRUB

(f) I do not know what version of the BIOS I was running then, but it was for
sure upgraded since I posted this bug, because I remember trying to fix it
that way.

But thanks for taking the time to look at this bug as quickly as you did. :)

As a consultant, managers have always told me that if you ignore bugs they
don't just go away. But, I think this is living proof of the fact that they do.

I was just trying to clean up the bugs as I take over the package but we do try
to respond a bit more quickly (in general)
