Description of problem:
I switched to a different user with the session menu. When I switched back to the session with Ctrl-Alt-F1 gnome-shell had crashed.

I tried user switching with the Nouveau driver without having the described problems. I assume it is a problem of the proprietary Nvidia drivers then. I close this bug therefore.
