Description of problem:
Package in repo is ancient, only version 1.4 is available and it's from 2009. In order to install a newer version for RHEL you have to try to build it by hand, so I request a newer version to be built and pushed to the repo.

beanstalkd-1.9-2.el6 has been submitted as an update for Fedora EPEL 6.

* should fix your issue,
* was pushed to the Fedora EPEL 6 testing repository,
* should be available at your local mirror within two days.
Update it with:
# su -c 'yum update --enablerepo=epel-testing beanstalkd-1.9-2.el6'
as soon as you are able to.
