Fedora-20-Beta-TC6-x86_64-netinst.iso installed in qemu.

- Japanese install
- After the default gnome install finished, I added KDE using
  “yum groupinstall kde-desktop-enviroment”
- Log out of Gnome
- Log into KDE
- Select ibus-kkc input method by using the input method icon
- Click on the “Fedora” icon at the left side of the panel
- At the top of the dialog which opens is a search entry line,
  there type

  nihongo

  which gets transliterated to

  にほんご

and is shown in the preëdit as black on white and underlined.

- Hit space to convert

  日本語

is shown but badly visible because it is in light gray on white.

- Type Control-i to narrow the conversion retgion to the first two
  characters

- Now one sees 日本 in light gray on white and 語 in black on white,
all of this underlined because it is still in predit.
日本 is now the active conversion region, typing space again
pops up a candidate list with more candidates for the input
  “nihon” (“にほん”).

This light gray on white for the active conversion region seems to be
a bad choice, it is hard to read.

See the attached screenshot comparing this in KDE and gnome.

By the way, this looks better even in KDE with some applications like
konsole or kate, they colourize this active conversion region
differently.

Hmmm, not sure what to blame here: Qt? Oxygen (i.e. kde-runtime)? Or ibus-qt?

It seems a regression in kdelib.
I tried konsole.
Previously KateRenderer::layoutLine() called QTextEngine::fontEngine() finally but now Kate is removed and painting/qpainter.cpp::qt_format_text() calls QTextEngine::fontEngine() finally.

But when QTextEngine::fontEngine() is called, QTextEngine::hasFormats() always returns false and QTextEngine::format() is never called.
I'm not sure how QTextEngine::hasFormats() could return true but I think KDE apps need to set the formats.

It looks better in Fedora 22 Beta.
