RHEL Engineering is moving the tracking of its product development work on RHEL 6 through RHEL 9 to Red Hat Jira (issues.redhat.com). If you're a Red Hat customer, please continue to file support cases via the Red Hat customer portal. If you're not, please head to the "RHEL project" in Red Hat Jira and file new tickets here. Individual Bugzilla bugs in the statuses "NEW", "ASSIGNED", and "POST" are being migrated throughout September 2023. Bugs of Red Hat partners with an assigned Engineering Partner Manager (EPM) are migrated in late September as per pre-agreed dates. Bugs against components "kernel", "kernel-rt", and "kpatch" are only migrated if still in "NEW" or "ASSIGNED". If you cannot log in to RH Jira, please consult article #7032570. That failing, please send an e-mail to the RH Jira admins at rh-issues@redhat.com to troubleshoot your issue as a user management inquiry. The email creates a ServiceNow ticket with Red Hat. Individual Bugzilla bugs that are migrated will be moved to status "CLOSED", resolution "MIGRATED", and set with "MigratedToJIRA" in "Keywords". The link to the successor Jira issue will be found under "Links", have a little "two-footprint" icon next to it, and direct you to the "RHEL project" in Red Hat Jira (issue links are of type "https://issues.redhat.com/browse/RHEL-XXXX", where "X" is a digit). This same link will be available in a blue banner at the top of the page informing you that that bug has been migrated.

Description Bill Nottingham 2013-10-29 18:50:47 UTC
Description of problem:

RHEL 7 nightly VM, installed via virt-install.

When viewed with virt-viewer, or virt-manager (F19), the mouse pointer is invisible in gnome-initial-setup. Keynav is also wonky - to get to the point where you can tab between options, requires some mouse focus/clicking first. (on the language screen).

This makes progressing through initial setup a pain.

Also, the keynavs for switching workspaces works during initial setup. They probably shouldn't be enabled.

Version-Release number of selected component (if applicable):

20131029 nightly

What's the GPU in the vm?

Comment 3 Bill Nottingham 2013-10-29 20:02:59 UTC
Cirrus + VNC. Stupid virt-install.

Comment 4 Bastien Nocera 2013-10-31 17:05:47 UTC
(In reply to Adam Jackson from comment #2)
> What's the GPU in the vm?

This is likely a problem with XSync, rather than the GPU. See what Peter makes of it.

Comment 5 Bill Nottingham 2013-10-31 17:53:43 UTC
(keynav issue from comment #1 cloned into a separate initial-setup bug)

Comment 6 Peter Hutterer 2014-02-18 03:59:00 UTC
All the XSync bugs on the server side were fixed with the 1.15 rebase. If this is still an issue then the most likely cause is any bits in the gnome stack, see Bug 1008965. Bastien, did you port all those over to RHEL7?

Comment 7 Peter Hutterer 2014-03-04 01:38:50 UTC
Fixed in xorg-x11-drv-modesetting-0.8.0-13.el7
