Previously, Navigation Nodes did not offer the option to specify external links in the navigation, or open in a new window. These configuration requirements are now supported in the Portal API.

Description of problem:

Looking for a way to define navigation nodes with external links. 
In Portal 4.3, they used page properties to store the information about the external links, and used these in a custom navigation portlet.
