Description Jake Hunsaker 2013-11-26 17:51:43 UTC
Who is the customer behind the request?
Account: name (acct #) University of Notre Dame / 817727
TAM customer: no/yes no
SRM customer: no/yes no
Strategic: no/yes no

What is the nature and description of the request?

Would like an error message displayed when creating a disk or similar entity in RHEV-M, and there is bad input somewhere.

Why does the customer need this? (List the business requirements here)

Currently, the portal will only highlight a specific field but not indicate what is wrong with the entry. In this specific case, customer had entered '90GB' as a desired size for a virtual disk, which was being rejected due to the 'GB' character.

How would the customer like to achieve this? (List the functional requirements here)

a) Display a brief error message about what is wrong with the input

or

b) Accept the 'GB' characters in the size field

Is there already an existing RFE upstream or in Red Hat Bugzilla?

No

Does the customer have any specific timeline dependencies and which release would they like to target (i.e. RHEL5, RHEL6)?

No

Is the sales team involved in this request and do they have any additional input?

No

Daniel, any insight on this?

The highlighted field is an indication for invalid input and should be accompanied with a tool-tip for error explanation. In this case, it should show something similar to: "The field must contain integer number...".

There's a UX RFE for giving better visual feedback on invalid/missing values in text fields: bug 877237. Closing as duplicate of that bug.
