RHEL Engineering is moving the tracking of its product development work on RHEL 6 through RHEL 9 to Red Hat Jira (issues.redhat.com). If you're a Red Hat customer, please continue to file support cases via the Red Hat customer portal. If you're not, please head to the "RHEL project" in Red Hat Jira and file new tickets here. Individual Bugzilla bugs in the statuses "NEW", "ASSIGNED", and "POST" are being migrated throughout September 2023. Bugs of Red Hat partners with an assigned Engineering Partner Manager (EPM) are migrated in late September as per pre-agreed dates. Bugs against components "kernel", "kernel-rt", and "kpatch" are only migrated if still in "NEW" or "ASSIGNED". If you cannot log in to RH Jira, please consult article #7032570. That failing, please send an e-mail to the RH Jira admins at rh-issues@redhat.com to troubleshoot your issue as a user management inquiry. The email creates a ServiceNow ticket with Red Hat. Individual Bugzilla bugs that are migrated will be moved to status "CLOSED", resolution "MIGRATED", and set with "MigratedToJIRA" in "Keywords". The link to the successor Jira issue will be found under "Links", have a little "two-footprint" icon next to it, and direct you to the "RHEL project" in Red Hat Jira (issue links are of type "https://issues.redhat.com/browse/RHEL-XXXX", where "X" is a digit). This same link will be available in a blue banner at the top of the page informing you that that bug has been migrated.

Red Hat Product Errata RHEA-2014:0681 0 normal SHIPPED_LIVE man-pages-ja enhancement update 2014-06-10 16:23:37 UTC

Description masanari iida 2013-11-27 04:46:54 UTC
Description of problem:
man page of nfs(5) in Japanese is outdated.

Version-Release number of selected component (if applicable):
man-pages-ja-20100115-6.el6.noarch (Japanese)
man-pages-3.22-17.el6.noarch (English)

Steps to Reproduce:
1. man 5 nfs both in LANG=ja_JP.UTF-8 and LANG=C

Actual results:
The version of nfs(5) man page in Japanese is "20 November 1993"
according to bottom of the page.

Expected results:
The version of nfs(5) man page in English is "2 November 2007".

What is different
(1) Missing options
The Japanese man page does not include "lookupcache" option.
This is one of an important option for the users who is suffering
from NFS trouble. If Japanese user sees only NFS man page in
Japanese, they can not find it.

(2) Different explanations
For example, timeo in English man page, it include an explanation
about both NFS over TCP and NFS over UDP cases.
But in Japanese man page, it doesn't tell about NFS over TCP.

So that's why I prefer just add "lookupcache" into old NFS man page,
but update whole contents to newer one.

Additional information
man-pages-ja-2013061501.el7.noarch also include old (20 Nov. 1993)
version of NFS man page in Japanese.
Since we are just before the RHEL7 release, I hope RH will fix
this symptom on both RHEL6 and RHEL7.

Workaround
See english man page.

Are you expecting to add the "lookupcache" description only in the nfs(5) Japanese man page? I'm not sure how those explains why you prefer just adding "lookupcache" description rather than synchronizing to the original though, if it is, I'm getting confused with the expected results in comment#0.
