Description John Vandenberg 2013-12-07 04:21:14 UTC
Description of problem:
mediawiki 1.21 includes extensions 'Interwiki' as a core extension, which is the same as the functionality provided by 'mediawiki-SpecialInterwiki'.

If mediawiki-SpecialInterwiki is installed, the mediawiki installer breaks if both are selected (I havent tested if it breaks if only one is installed

Version-Release number of selected component (if applicable):
1.21.x

How reproducible:
Very

Steps to Reproduce:
1. install package mediawiki-SpecialInterwiki
2. install package mediawiki
3. configure mediawiki application using web installer
4. select both extensions Interwiki & SpecialInterwiki

Actual results:
Installation process says 'Including extensions...' and stops.

Expected results:
installing package mediawiki

Or, the installer should detect this problem and not offer 'SpecialInterwiki', as mediawiki knows that it has included it in core.

Comment 1 John Vandenberg 2013-12-07 05:38:58 UTC
This is of course fixed by adding something like

Provides: mediawiki-SpecialInterwiki = 0.11.20080913svn.2
Obsoletes: mediawiki-SpecialInterwiki <= 0.11.20080913svn.1

Comment 2 Michael Cronenworth 2013-12-07 20:23:28 UTC
The package maintainer(s) for mediawiki-SpecialInterwiki needs to retire his package as well.

Comment 3 Jon Stanley 2013-12-10 14:41:53 UTC
Will do - still need it in EPEL I think, though.

Comment 4 Patrick Uiterwijk 2014-01-17 14:28:24 UTC
Please note this has not yet been performed, could you still do this please?

Also, please note that the mediawiki package in EPEL-6 has been deprecated, and EPEL-5 is also unmaintained (trying to get that deprecated), so I think it should be okay to deprecated/deadpackage it from there as well.

Comment 5 Fedora End Of Life 2015-01-09 20:48:29 UTC
This message is a notice that Fedora 19 is now at end of life. Fedora
has stopped maintaining and issuing updates for Fedora 19. It is
Fedora's policy to close all bug reports from releases that are no
longer maintained. Approximately 4 (four) weeks from now this bug will
be closed as EOL if it remains open with a Fedora 'version' of '19'.

Package Maintainer: If you wish for this bug to remain open because you
plan to fix it in a currently maintained version, simply change the 'version'
to a later Fedora version.

Thank you for reporting this issue and we are sorry that we were not
able to fix it before Fedora 19 is end of life. If you would still like
to see this bug fixed and are able to reproduce it against a later version
of Fedora, you are encouraged change the 'version' to a later Fedora
version prior this bug is closed as described in the policy above.

Although we aim to fix as many bugs as possible during every release's
lifetime, sometimes those efforts are overtaken by events. Often a
more recent Fedora release includes newer upstream software that fixes
bugs or makes them obsolete.

Comment 6 Michael Cronenworth 2015-01-09 20:53:17 UTC
This has still not been done.

Comment 7 Jaroslav Reznik 2015-03-03 15:18:46 UTC
This bug appears to have been reported against 'rawhide' during the Fedora 22 development cycle.
Changing version to '22'.

Comment 8 Fedora End Of Life 2016-07-19 10:46:40 UTC
Fedora 22 changed to end-of-life (EOL) status on 2016-07-19. Fedora 22 is
no longer maintained, which means that it will not receive any further
security or bug fix updates. As a result we are closing this bug.

If you can reproduce this bug against a currently maintained version of
Fedora please feel free to reopen this bug against that version. If you
are unable to reopen this bug, please file a new report against the
current release. If you experience problems, please add a comment to this
bug.

Thank you for reporting this bug and we are sorry it could not be fixed.
