Description Björn 'besser82' Esser 2013-12-12 15:44:50 UTC
Description of problem:

When requiring a rubygem, which is loaded by it's compiled extension like
  require("gem.so"), the gem.so isn't found by ruby...

This doesn't happend when a ruby-native (gem.rb) from that gem is required
  prior to the c-compiled-so.

Version-Release number of selected component (if applicable):

  rubygems-2.1.11-113.fc20

How reproducible:

  100%

Steps to Reproduce:

  1. take a gem with a *.so in %{gem_extdir_mri} like rubygem-zoom
  2. ruby -e 'require("rubygems"); require("zoom.so")'
  3. KABOOM!!!

Actual results:

  /usr/share/rubygems/rubygems/core_ext/kernel_require.rb:55:in `require':
cannot load such file -- zoom (LoadError)
	from /usr/share/rubygems/rubygems/core_ext/kernel_require.rb:55:
        in `require` from -e:1:in `<main>'

Expected results:

The c-compiled gem should be loaded without an error, like with
    rubygems-2.0.12-109.fc20.noarch

Additional info:

me && vondruch have tried an can confirm.

Thanks for reporting. It seems that RubyGems 2.1 is missing one patch. Will fix that soon.

Mamoru, thank you for fixing this. I thought I'll fix it (I already had scratch build, but had to leave prior pushing it), but you beat me :)
