Description Jake Hunsaker 2013-12-13 19:03:17 UTC
Who is the customer behind the request?
Account: name (acct #) Library of Congress / 688297
TAM customer: no/yes no
SRM customer: no/yes YES
Strategic: no/yes YES

What is the nature and description of the request?

The searchbox in the admin portal should not be case sensitive.

Why does the customer need this? (List the business requirements here)

Efficiency in work flow. A web-based portal search tool should not be case sensitive.

How would the customer like to achieve this? (List the functional requirements here)

Either configure the search tool to not be case sensitive, or allow it to be a configurable setting.

Is there already an existing RFE upstream or in Red Hat Bugzilla?

Not that I could find.

Does the customer have any specific timeline dependencies and which release would they like to target (i.e. RHEL5, RHEL6)?

No

Is the sales team involved in this request and do they have any additional input?

No

List any affected packages or components.

rhevm

Would the customer be able to assist in testing this functionality if implemented?

Yes

 Additional info:

I understand that this probably stems from the case-sensitive nature of Linux itself, but I agree that in the case of RHEV, case sensitive searching is not ideal. It is highly unlikely that a customer will have VMs, hosts, etc.. with the same name just with varying use of case.

its actually about the grid-tree relation, but we decided makes more sense to be case insensitive, than allow same entities in different case.
should be fixed in 3.4. please see bug 828080 for more details.
