From Bugzilla Helper: User-Agent: Mozilla/5.0 (X11; U; Linux i686; en-US; rv:1.4) Gecko/20030722 Galeon/1.3.8 Description of problem: Upon installation of a new drive (hard drive, especially - though it would be nice if capability was available for removable media), Kudzu should allow the user to use a Disk Druid type utility to partition, format, and create mount points for their new disks. Since it is available in Anaconda, users may expect the functionality to also be present upon boot up (it would be very nice). Windows 2000 informs the user when it finds a new hard drive and tells them that Disk Manager can be used to make the drive available. To test to see if this feature was in Rawhide Kudzu, I added a 4.3G EIDE drive to my workstation. Booted up. No utilities were present to manage this drive. Upon checking /etc/sysconfig/hwconf, I had found that Kudzu knew that the device exists and the parameters of the device. Version-Release number of selected component (if applicable): kudzu-1.1.13-1.1 How reproducible: Always Steps to Reproduce: 1. see description 2. 3. Actual Results: see description Expected Results: see description Additional info:
Not going to be fixed in kudzu. Requires pre-existence of some graphical partitioning/disk management thing.
Can you not incorporate some of Anaconda's graphical bit to do the task?
Possibly, but that would need to be done as a separate standalone tool.
