Description Dave Cross 2014-01-02 10:30:11 UTC
Description of problem:

When I open the laptop, I'm just presented with a small Fedora logo in the middle of the screen. And all I can do is restart the laptop.

Version-Release number of selected component (if applicable):

How reproducible:

Every time

Steps to Reproduce:
1. Close laptop
2. Open laptop

Actual results:

Presented with small Fedora Logo in middle of screen. Previous session does not resume.

Expected results:

Resume previous session.

Additional info:

Laptop is a Dell XPS 14z. Upgraded from Fedora 19 (where this worked) to Fedora 20 using fedup.

I'm aware that I'm not giving you enough information here, but I don't know what is useful. Please ask for any diagnostics you need.

Also, I have no idea at all which component causes this problem, but Bugzilla won't accept "Unknown", so I've guessed at "kernel". Please reassign to something more appropriate.

Same as the other BZ, let's upload "uname -a", "lspci -nvvv", "dmidecode" and var/log/messages to this one as well so we have a bit of context.

Try booting with the parameter nouveau.runpm=0 and let us know how it goes.

Comment 7 Vladimir Kosovac 2014-01-11 03:15:46 UTC
nouveau.runpm=0

works for me - Dell XPS L702X

Comment 8 Vladimir Kosovac 2014-01-11 03:22:46 UTC
Removed:
  xorg-x11-drv-nouveau.x86_64 1:1.0.9-2.fc20

Suspend/Wakeup on laptop lid close now works as expected (no extra boot parameters needed)

i had the same problem, tried removing nouveau, but now instead of waking up locked on the fc logo, the screensaver is frozen:-\ worked fine under fc17...

Comment 14 air_drummer 2014-01-16 20:09:37 UTC
just tried kde: wakes to password entry dialog, but kbd locked, buttons unresponsive to clicks:-\

next: gnome...btw, i'm ssh'ing in to recover, but killing screensaver doesn't help, only killing the session works

Comment 15 air_drummer 2014-01-16 20:13:09 UTC
nope: gnome's non-responsive also:-\

Seems fixed in recent kernels. (Actually for some months now - sorry for delay in replying)
