Hi, yes, I am aware of the fact that there is a kde4 version of kxstitch. In the beginning it seemed to have some stability issues. I will do some research if this is still the case and if not I agree that it is about time to finally switch to the kde4 version. For the moment I will put this as UPSTREAM.
There are KXStitch 1.1.2 Fedora packages in OpenSuSE Build Service for 18, 19 and 20, i586 and x86_64. Please test.
I just tested the OpenSuSE version after submitting three bugs against the older version of KXStitch. Immediate reactions from the user is total awesomeness. Lots of features that she wanted to go with a Windows version to test. I had no issues installing the OpenSuSE build on an fully updates F20 laptop. 32 bit. If OpenSuSE works, then it is time to get it upgraded in Fedora. Only problem is that it doesn't have the newest floss colours. The OpenSuSE version won't install into Fedora 19 due to libMagick 6.
I've just had a look at the build log for F19 on OpenSuSE and it shows a requirement for ImageMagick 5. Requires: libICE.so.6 libMagick++.so.5 libMagickCore.so.5 libQtCore.so.4 libQtDBus.so.4 libQtGui.so.4 libQtNetwork.so.4 libQtSvg.so.4 libQtXml.so.4 libSM.so.6 libX11.so.6 libXau.so.6 libXext.so.6 libXft.so.2 libXpm.so.4 libc.so.6 libc.so.6(GLIBC_2.0) libc.so.6(GLIBC_2.1.3) libc.so.6(GLIBC_2.4) libgcc_s.so.1 libgcc_s.so.1(GCC_3.0) libkdecore.so.5 libkdeui.so.5 libkio.so.5 libm.so.6 libm.so.6(GLIBC_2.0) libm.so.6(GLIBC_2.1) libpthread.so.0 libpthread.so.0(GLIBC_2.0) libstdc++.so.6 libstdc++.so.6(CXXABI_1.3) libstdc++.so.6(GLIBCXX_3.4) rtld(GNU_HASH) Does F19 normally come with ImageMagick 5 or 6? Regarding the floss schemes, JP Coates is broken and has been removed. DMC has some minor updates. When KXStitch gets fully integrated into the KDE infrastructure, I'll be doing some tidying up and then release an update which will include the latest floss schemes. Regards Steve
I'm working on an official Fedora package right now. It's almost done. However, I am considering to let it go through the official review process again, since it's more or less a complete rewrite of the spec file. Right now I'm not planning to update the official packages for F19 and F20, since the user experience changes considerably. Steve: You may consider to include a license file in the source tarball as you did for the old version.
I have added a GPLv2 license file to KXStitch kde repo. You may also want to create a package for the SymbolEditor application that goes with KXStitch to create the symbol libraries. Would you like a copy of my spec file from OpenSuSE build service? Regards Steve
Hi Steve, thank you for adding the license file. Yes, I will package the SymbolEditor as well. I just hope that we will never get any trouble with the slightly generic name, comparable to the parallel hassle. In fact, I found your spec files and they are most helpfull. I just have to make some small changes to meet the official Fedora packaging guidelines. Best Regards, Golo
Yeah, it started out as a personal project really, so hopefully there won't be any clashes. Do what you need to with the spec files, glad they were of use. Is there anything else you need to meet to packaging guidelines? Regards Steve
(In reply to Golo Fuchert from comment #5) I'm not planning to update the official packages for F19 and F20, since > the user experience changes considerably. > My wifes' comments would totally agree with this. It is well worth the upgrade. It is long over due and needed as there are many features that are wanted and needed. As my wife is on F20, not getting a version for F19 is not an issue.
