Note: This bug is displayed in read-only format because the product is no longer active in Red Hat Bugzilla.
RHEL Engineering is moving the tracking of its product development work on RHEL 6 through RHEL 9 to Red Hat Jira (issues.redhat.com). If you're a Red Hat customer, please continue to file support cases via the Red Hat customer portal. If you're not, please head to the "RHEL project" in Red Hat Jira and file new tickets here. Individual Bugzilla bugs in the statuses "NEW", "ASSIGNED", and "POST" are being migrated throughout September 2023. Bugs of Red Hat partners with an assigned Engineering Partner Manager (EPM) are migrated in late September as per pre-agreed dates. Bugs against components "kernel", "kernel-rt", and "kpatch" are only migrated if still in "NEW" or "ASSIGNED". If you cannot log in to RH Jira, please consult article #7032570. That failing, please send an e-mail to the RH Jira admins at rh-issues@redhat.com to troubleshoot your issue as a user management inquiry. The email creates a ServiceNow ticket with Red Hat. Individual Bugzilla bugs that are migrated will be moved to status "CLOSED", resolution "MIGRATED", and set with "MigratedToJIRA" in "Keywords". The link to the successor Jira issue will be found under "Links", have a little "two-footprint" icon next to it, and direct you to the "RHEL project" in Red Hat Jira (issue links are of type "https://issues.redhat.com/browse/RHEL-XXXX", where "X" is a digit). This same link will be available in a blue banner at the top of the page informing you that that bug has been migrated.

Description Martin 2014-01-27 17:32:17 UTC
Description of problem:
Red Hat branding in Firstboot is missing.

Version-Release number of selected component (if applicable):
RHEL-7.0-20140127.n.0-Workstation-x86_64

How reproducible:
always

Steps to Reproduce:
Install RHEL7 and boot.

Actual results:
No Red Hat artwork in Firstboot.

Expected results:
Red Hat artwork e.g. logo should be included and some version string like: "Red Hat Enterprise Linux Workstation 7.0 (Maipo)"

Additional info:
From Branding Documentation:
Firstboot is now a deprecated tool[1], that runs only if there are some third-party modules installed. It can be branded with the image files that are included in the system-logos package (see the Anaconda part above), more precisely images under the /usr/share/firstboot/themes. For more information see the contents of the /usr/share/firstboot/themes/default/ [2] directory on the installed system or firstboot git repository [6].

Reality:
[1] Firstboot is being used for Kdump configuration and Subscription Management modules.
[2] /usr/share/firstboot/themes/fedora-verne/

Comment 2 Vratislav Podzimek 2014-02-11 16:32:08 UTC
'rpm -qf /usr/share/firstboot/themes/fedora-verne/' reports the theme files are owned by the redhat-logos package. That package should to provide branding. Once that is available, firstboot can start using it.

Comment 3 Máirín Duffy 2014-02-11 22:44:10 UTC
Vratislav, can you use the artwork for the sidebar in anaconda in firstboot? I'm attaching the artwork here. It requires the background color to be set to #021519.

(in the future you don't need to block on me for doing redhat-logos builds, it's sort of a communal package that anyone can touch)

redhat-logos bits are built in redhat-logos-70.0.0-1.el7.

bouncing back to firstboot for any changes it needs (as per comment 2).

If it's good to go, as-is, feel free to move to MODIFIED.

Thanks for such fast change!

Just tested the new redhat-logos package and no additional changes are needed. Reassigning back and moving to MODIFIED.

I can see branding just in the first screen when confirming license and creating user, in kdump configuration and subscription management registration there is just the blue stripe on the right side.
Do we want to have shadow man logo in all pages?

not idea. Vratislav? Presumably if the branding is showing up on some pages, but not others, the artwork is in, and the code needs updates.

I'd like to see smooth transition from Initial Setup to Firstboot, which means include same branding logo and "RED HAT ENETEPRISE LINUX 7.0" string on same places in GUI.
Could you include same branding in Firstboot like you have in Initial Setup?

Besides that, I'd like to get rid of Firstboot in 7.1 for Kdump configuration and Subscription Management modules and implement them in Initial Setup.

Branding Documentation clearly states that Firstboot is deprecated and shall be used for third-party modules only.

You've already answered this in the next comment. The goal is to get rid of Firstboot in 7.1 (btw, kdump configuration is already being moved to the Initial Setup), so there is no point in spending extra time on branding Firstboot. The state in which it is now is the same state as for the last many years.

With that said, I believe this bug can be moved to VERIFIED as Firstboot branding is in an expected shape.

Comment 19 Vladimir Benes 2014-03-21 10:29:42 UTC
as for the previous comment, this is just a tiny issue and will be fixed in 7.1
