Description Sudhir Khanger 2014-01-31 04:08:48 UTC
Description of problem:
I was wondering what is the status of LibreOffice 4.2 on Fedora 20. Will LibreOffice be updated to version 4.2 on Fedora 20 or is it being put off for Fedora 21.

We do not do upgrades in released Fedoras as a rule. But since Fedora 21 is not going to be released before August (at least that is what I heard; AFAIK there is no schedule yet), which is past release date of 4.3.0, I think we should make an exception this time.

Comment 2 Caolan McNamara 2014-02-04 16:57:15 UTC
Maybe punt to 4.2.1 for F-20 rather than 4.2.0 ?

Comment 3 David Tardon 2014-02-06 07:58:35 UTC
maybe

Comment 7 Adrien D 2014-02-23 09:39:19 UTC
I can't update libreoffice :

--> Traitement de la dépendance : libcmis-0.4.so.4()(64bit) pour le paquet : 1:libreoffice-core-4.2.1.1-1.fc20.x86_64
--> Résolution des dépendances terminée
Erreur : Paquet : 1:libreoffice-core-4.2.1.1-1.fc20.x86_64 (updates-testing)
             Requiert : libcmis-0.4.so.4()(64bit)
 Vous pouvez essayer d'utiliser --skip-broken pour contourner le problème

Thanks;

It should not be in update repo with dependency problems.

Error: Package: 1:libreoffice-core-4.2.1.1-1.fc20.x86_64 (updates)
       Requires: libcmis-0.4.so.4()(64bit)

Comment 11 Harald Reindl 2014-02-23 17:16:55 UTC
what about the 3 ***** who gave positive karma while there is a dependecy problem for "libreoffice-core" and WHAT ABOUT packagers try to install their crap on a real exsiting machine?

https://admin.fedoraproject.org/updates/FEDORA-2014-2922/libreoffice-4.2.1.1-1.fc20?_csrf_token=a6a024f6e2d35ad3f3333b8666c1244e215a6aa2

*nobody* ever could have installed that package and so *nobody* an pretend "installation went smoothly, no issue detected during basic document manipulation "

Comment 12 markusN 2014-02-23 20:29:58 UTC
An update to libcmis-0.4.so.4 seems to be on the way according to bug #1068938

That _you_ do not know that something can happen does not mean it can't. As I said already in the update.

Btw, you just replaced JBG on my personal list of "idiot of the month". Quite a feat, that!

Comment 14 Harald Reindl 2014-02-23 21:16:40 UTC
> That _you_ do not know that something can happen

people downloading depending packages directly from koji are *not* permitted to gave karma for stable updates - instead the have to file a bug for whatever reason why the depending package is *not* in updates-tetsing nor updates-stable

period

Comment 15 Harald Reindl 2014-02-23 21:20:44 UTC
> As I said already in the update

i do not need to aplogize to anybody because i am running "rm -rf /var/cache/yum/*; yum upgrade" *multiple* times a day while updates-testing enabled and that package *never* appeared there nor did it reslove dependencies - period

Okay, okay, I am sorry I even suggested that, Your Perfectness...

Comment 17 Harald Reindl 2014-02-23 21:33:44 UTC
that has nothing to do with perfectness

* before a upgrade arrives updates-stable it has to meet updates-testing
* before a update is pushed from testing to stable it has to settle
* and that *especially* affects major upgrades

this update *never* faced updates-testing and diretly went to stable
that is *not* what updates-testing is for

Comment 18 Stefan Grosse 2014-02-25 09:52:44 UTC
Thank you David for the upgrade! Libreoffice 4.2 is great so I am happy to see it on my F20 system.

However, I think you and Harald overreacted a little bit with the comments. I think you both have a point. Mistakes haben and maybe the Karma thing is not perfect and should (and is) discussed in the devel list.

But I believe there is a more polite and less insulting way to discuss such things. Fedora is a great distribution and we all want to improve it. So please have a virtual beer together and forgive each other. ;-)

Comment 19 Vladislav Grigoryev 2014-02-25 15:11:52 UTC
I think you should set at least 10 points for stable karma limit next time.
