+ cat /proc/cmdline method=http://download.fedoraproject.org/pub/fedora/linux/releases/20/Fedora/x86_64/os/ ks=file:kojak-ks.cfg console=tty0 console=ttyS0,115200 serial rd_NO_PLYMOUTH reassigning to anaconda
Can you boot with rd.debug=1 and post the log from that? Also, where is your kickstart file being fetched from? ks=file:kojak-ks.cfg does not specify what the device the kickstart is on, which may be your problem. ks= uses the same syntax as the inst.repo option. See http://wwoods.fedorapeople.org/doc/boot-options.html#_inst_repo for details.
With respect to the kickstart file I'm using the following options with virt-install virt-install \ --debug \ -n ${VMNAME} \ -r ${VMMEM} \ --accelerate \ --vcpus=2 \ --os-type=linux \ --os-variant=${OS_VARIANT} \ --disk ${VMHOME}/${VMNAME}.img \ --initrd-inject=${CFGDIR}/kojak-ks.cfg \ --location ${SRCLOC} \ --extra-args="ks=file:kojak-ks.cfg console=tty0 console=ttyS0,115200 serial rd_NO_PLYMOUTH" \ --console pty \ --nographics Can you advise how I can use the rd.debug=1 option in the command line above? Thanks, Sal.
Add it to the extra-args list.

You appear to have cdrom in your kickstart, but no cdrom mounted to install from. + cat /etc/cmdline.d/80-kickstart.conf inst.repo=cdrom ip=192.168.122.2::192.168.122.1:255.255.255.0:koji.localdomain:None:none: nameserver=192.168.122.1 Also, is networking setup correctly for your vms? And it looks like there are no disks setup. FYI we have the livemedia-creator tool (part of lorax) that can be used to create appliance images using a kickstart and a boot.iso, it takes care of setting up most of this stuff for you.
I was stuck with the same error. After hours of debugging, I found the reason had nothing to do with the virt-install command or the kickstart file, but was because I had not enabled dhcp on the network attached to the nic of the VM, and it failed to download the second stage image file.......
I had a quick look at the network settings and I can confirm I have dhcp enabled. I had a working configuration prior to Fedora 20 so I suspect bugs in the latest release are to blame. Having said that I have aligned both my virt-install and kickstart to use a url to download the files but I'm still having no joy.

Is this still a problem? The debug log in comment 9 shows the installer starting and failing due to invalid partitioning in your kickstart. I also don't see any more mention of inst.repo=cdrom. Did you address the issues that Brian raised in comment 6?
I think invalid partitioning could be a red hearing as it was working before and that now I can boot but it complains it cannot find the kickstart file. I have confirmed that the file exists and tried multiple locations on filing but no joy. I tried using livemedia-creator with my kickstart file and oddly enough I have the same issue with respect to the kickstart file not being detected from both the file system and a http url. Please advise.
OK so it seems that the kickstart file can only be read from / and not /root or anywhere else. So I guess this can be Closed as don't believe its a bug but it would be nice not having to use / to store the kickstart file. Thanks, Sal.
I'm not sure what you mean, limedia-creator can read the kickstart from anywhere you have permission to read from.
Yes but I'm not using livemedia-creator in this case. Thanks, Sal.
