Description of problem: Chapter 4.2. Adding CNAME Records to the Satellite Proxy Server Configuration has 2 issues: #1: valid_cnames_<systemID of Proxy server> = cname1,cname2,cname3 -> it would be helpful to describe how to retrieve the proxy server's system ID and to provide a valid example of that line. I suppose it is the content of /etc/sysconfig/rhn/systemid, but maybe one has to remove the "ID-" prefix? #2: Documentation says: "service tomcat6 restart". Well, tomcat6 is not installed by Satellite Proxy 5.6. Probably "rhn-proxy restart" ? Version-Release number of selected component (if applicable): How reproducible: Steps to Reproduce: 1. 2. 3. Actual results: Expected results: Additional info:
(In reply to Gunther Schlegel from comment #0) Grant, Can you confirm/comment on these or pass to a suitable SME? > Description of problem: > Chapter 4.2. That is correct - for a system with the following in its systemid file: === <member> <name>system_id</name> <value><string>ID-1037137892</string></value> </member> === the ID recognized by Satellite is 1037137892 > > #2: Documentation says: "service tomcat6 restart". > > > > Well, tomcat6 is not installed by Satellite Proxy 5.6. Yes, rhn-proxy exists and is what you would use to restart. (If it helps - it handles start/stop/status/restart/condrestart , for services (squid httpd jabberd MonitoringScout) )
To git.lab.tlv.redhat.com:satellite5-docs/proxy-installation-guide.git 56f087b..343c150 master -> master Updated: Procedure 5.1. To Configure Your Satellite Proxy Server to Use CNAME Records:
This appears to be correct and implemented live: https://access.redhat.com/documentation/en-US/Red_Hat_Satellite/5.7/html/Proxy_Installation_Guide/sect-cname-Adding_CNAME_Records_to_the_Satellite_Proxy_Server_Configuration.html Gunther, are there any further documentation corrections required for this section? If not, I'll close this bug.
Looks good to me.
No worries. Thanks for reporting it.
