Created attachment 869594 [details] picture of empty gdm Description of problem: some times does not display user names, diplaying just icons instead. hence, you can not know which is the right user to select. i have seen this on my bth home desktops, one with i3 processor (intel graphics), the other with an external ATI graphics card. some other times, it displays only two of the four users present on the system. After seeing this last effect, upon entering gnome-shell the "search" display is mangled. This i've noticed only on the i3 system, but at the time i did not payed much attention on the system with ATI. Actual results: Expected results: Additional info: apparently this started after my LAN router (tp-link wdr4300) started to malfunction (thus interrupting DNS resolving), but this may be a coincidence. also, we may have three bugs here, not just one.
