Description Rene Koch 2014-03-04 09:30:01 UTC
Description of problem:
oVirt hosts get in status "Non Operational" if you select "Enable Gluster Service" for an oVirt cluster if these hosts were installed with disabled gluster service.

Error message in engine.log is:
method "glusterHostsList" is not supported

Version-Release number of selected component (if applicable):
3.4

How reproducible:
Install CentOS 6.5 hosts and enable gluster service afterwards.

Steps to Reproduce:
1. Install CentOS 6.5 host via tab "Hosts" - "New"
2. Select "Enable Gluster Service" in cluster settings
3.

Actual results:
Hosts become non operational until vdsm-gluster package get's installed (either with yum or reinstalling host via oVirt webadmin)

Expected results:
Display an warn/error message when selecting "Enable Gluster Settings" and one or more hosts do not have the required vdsm-gluster package installed. This can be done in the same way as the warn message for missing power management.

Comment 1 Sandro Bonazzola 2014-05-08 13:56:10 UTC
This is an automated message.

oVirt 3.4.1 has been released.
This issue has been retargeted to 3.5.0 since it has not been marked as high priority or severity issue, please retarget if needed.

Comment 2 Sven Kieske 2014-09-22 08:51:16 UTC
I would go further and say: why don't you prompt the user with a message
which says that enabling gluster services will install the required packages
on all hosts in the cluster and ask if the user agrees to this?

This would be much better than an annoying warning.

Comment 3 Sandro Bonazzola 2015-01-21 16:08:06 UTC
oVirt 3.5.1 has been released, re-targeting to 3.6.0 as not marked as urgent / high severity or priority
