Created attachment 870591 [details] troubleshooting file from attempting to install a printer Description of problem: I had successfully configured a Brother HL-2270DW in USB mode in one location on a notebook. When I moved the notebook and tried to user that printer configuration on another Brother HL-2270DW in another location, print jobs hung in the print queue as "Processing". I then realized that the jobs were not printing because the two printers have different serial numbers, possibly causing the rejection. I deleted the jobs. In Print Settings, I tried to copy the configuration from the first location, and then tried to change the URL. I couldn't seem to do that, so I decided to run the Troubleshooter on it. No jobs were in the queue, and I indicated the nonexistent jobs "failed to print correctly". I got a troubleshoot.txt file that I shall attach. Then, I tried Adding a Printer, indicating the second printer. After the search for drivers, I got the CUPS error. Version-Release number of selected component (if applicable): system-config-printer-1.4.3-2.fc20.x86_64 How reproducible: Only tried once. Would like to try fresh boot and install as new in Troubleshooter. Steps to Reproduce: 1. Try to use same make/model printer on more than one printer. Actual results: Second printer doesn't work. Expected results: If it's expected that the second printer should not work, to avoid accidentally sending print jobs to the wrong location, there should be a warning that an installation is requred. When looking at the status of the printer in the second locationm, I should have seen the status as "disconnected", instead of "idle".
Rebooted. Tried to install under the Troubleshooter and failed. Removed the printer that I had cloned from the first location. Tried a straight install. It worked! Also, please note that I had and have the drivers from the Brother website: cupswrapperHL2270DW-2.0.4-2.i386 hl2270dwlpr-2.1.0-1.i386
