Description Peter H. Jones 2014-03-07 08:41:50 UTC
Created attachment 871796 [details]
/var/log/messages from initial boot

Description of problem:
kerneloops after booting Fedora-Live-Desktop-x86_64-rawhide-20140305.iso.

Version-Release number of selected component (if applicable):
kernel-3.14.0-0.rc5.git1.1.fc21.x86_64

How reproducible:
Only tried once

Steps to Reproduce:
1. Booted the DVD
2. Played with network connections, including turning hotspot on and off.

Actual results:
Saw a kerneloops flash by. The ABRT icon did not appear.

Expected results:
No kerneloops. If there is one, the ABRT reporting icon should appear.

Additional info:
Found "abrt" in activities menu and ran it. The first time, I saw abrt's from a few days ago! When I clicked Report, abrt balked because my username/password was not configured. I didn't get a chance to configure them. I took the Upload for Analysis when it was offered, and got
"Successfully sent /var/tmp/oops-2014-03-06-21:56:07-804-0.tar.gz to https://retrace.fedoraproject.org/faf/dumpdirs/new/"

Messages about the oops start at line 1536 of the /var/log/messages (attached).

/var/log/messages, second try

Tried booting again, this time with media check. During the media check, I saw messages like "kernel: hub 2-0:1.0: unable to enumerate USB device on port 3". A USB hard drive was plugged in during that.

The oops occurs every time, just before the boot screen is replaced with the running screen.

abrt in mode 3 start

Got an oops starting in mode 3.

System started OK with init 5; that's how I'm adding this attachment.

BTW yum check-update shows a lot of updates available.

Comment 3 Josh Boyer 2014-03-07 14:21:25 UTC
There's no kernel oops or panic in the first two things you've attached. The third attachment is a bunch of random stuff (maybe it isn't a plain-text file?). I have no idea why you're seeing that message, but I don't see a kernel problem.

The presence of further updates will be constant with rawhide. There's nothing we can do with this bug.
