I can't say this any better than it was said in the bug linked below, so here it is: BEGIN QUOTE It would be useful if we could update some of the metadata that doesn't directly affect the running VM: Name: especially during the export import process VMs sometimes end up with extra stuff in the name (or just typos), it would be useful to be able to update this without having to shutdown the VM Description: Same reason as name High Availability: When VMs are imported they don't bring with them the high availability settings and people don't always remember to tick the box when creating the VM. Having to shutdown the host in order to enable high availability is self defeating, and during an outage caused by a fenced hypervisor, you don't always remember to go in and update the setting. Hypervisor Migration/Pinning options: Same logic as HA options. END QUOTE The RFE in the PRD is here: https://bugzilla.redhat.com/show_bug.cgi?id=962585
I have added a list of parameters that can be edited while a virtual machine is running to the Editing Virtual Machine Properties section of the Admin Guide and User Guide.
