Hi,

I have little confusion:

>> Template Versioning enables adding new versions to existing templates, by either selecting a VM and using it to create a new version of a template

I can see "Create as a Sub Template version" while creating new template of VM(RHEV admin portal --> vms tab --> select vm --> make template.

>> or by editing a template, and when saving, selecting Save As Version.
I dont see any option as above? Can you shed light on how to edit existing template? and where I can get above option(Save As Version) ?

am i missing something?

Regards,
Pratik.

Hi Pratik,

Thank you for your feedback.

I have encountered the same situation as yourself on several internal Red Hat Enterprise Virtualization 3.4 instances, both updated to the most recent version and earlier.

While I have been able to create a template sub version using the 'Make Template' action, I have not been able to find a 'Save As Version' button or similar function in the 'New Template' or 'Edit Template' windows. I have not been able to find any strings in the source code for RHEV that suggest this function exists, either.

Because one of the development bugs for template versioning is still on QA as of this message, my assumption is that this aspect of template versioning has not yet been implemented, and I plan to follow up and see if it appears in a later revision.

Please let me know if I can provide any further information on my end!

Kind regards,

Andrew

Peer reviewed.

All UUIDs in outlined sections have been updated to neutral input. XML representation of a VM template has been updated as outlined, and now conforms to what appears in the REST API. The actions (creating/updating/removing) are correctly formatted.

All changes in Comment #2 are now live in the documentation.

(UI elements discussed in Comment #3 are covered in bug 1075492.)

VERIFIED.
