Description Assen Totin 2014-03-19 08:18:55 UTC
Description of problem:

F20, all updates, MATE Desktop. When a blank CD or DVD is inserted into the drive, an error message saying "Unable to mount Blank CD-R Disc.
Location is already mounted" is shown. In fact there is no error, as the disk icon appears on the desktop and then the disk can be successfully burned.

mate-vfs might be a more proper package for this issue, but I was not sure.

Version-Release number of selected component (if applicable):
mate-desktop-1.6.2-1

How reproducible:

Every time.

Steps to Reproduce:

1. Insert a blank CD or DVD disk in a CD or DVD writer. Wait a few second for the drive to recognise the disk.

Actual results:

An error message pops up saying "Unable to mount Blank CD-R Disc.
Location is already mounted".

Expected results:

No error message should be displayed as the disk is properly recognised and can be burned without problems.

Additional info:

CD drive info (note: info obtained using original cdrecod package compiled from source as the one provided by Fedora is broken and the -scanbus optin only says 'wodim: No such file or directory.'):

[root@archimed ~]# /opt/schily/bin/cdrecord --scanbus | grep CD
Linux sg driver version: 3.5.34
	4,1,0	401) 'ASUS ' 'DRW-2014S1 ' '1.01' Removable CD-ROM

Hi Assen,
i can confirm this issue without having cdrecord installed on my system.
Also Sven Sanders from gentoo did confirm this.
Could you pls search at github for this issue and open one if no one exists?
This would help me a lot, always forwarding issues to mate steals a lot of my time.

Thank you

Thanks, Wofgang - could not find a suitable ticket @Github, so created a new one.

Upstream ticket: https://github.com/mate-desktop/mate-vfs/issues/5

Comment 3 Assen Totin 2014-04-27 12:08:57 UTC
Moved the upstream ticket to mate-desktop:

Comment 4 Fedora End Of Life 2015-05-29 11:18:19 UTC
This message is a reminder that Fedora 20 is nearing its end of life.
Approximately 4 (four) weeks from now Fedora will stop maintaining
and issuing updates for Fedora 20. It is Fedora's policy to close all
bug reports from releases that are no longer maintained. At that time
this bug will be closed as EOL if it remains open with a Fedora 'version'
of '20'.

Package Maintainer: If you wish for this bug to remain open because you
plan to fix it in a currently maintained version, simply change the 'version'
to a later Fedora version.

Thank you for reporting this issue and we are sorry that we were not
able to fix it before Fedora 20 is end of life. If you would still like
to see this bug fixed and are able to reproduce it against a later version
of Fedora, you are encouraged change the 'version' to a later Fedora
version prior this bug is closed as described in the policy above.

Although we aim to fix as many bugs as possible during every release's
lifetime, sometimes those efforts are overtaken by events. Often a
more recent Fedora release includes newer upstream software that fixes
bugs or makes them obsolete.

Comment 6 Fedora End Of Life 2015-06-30 00:57:32 UTC
Fedora 20 changed to end-of-life (EOL) status on 2015-06-23. Fedora 20 is
no longer maintained, which means that it will not receive any further
security or bug fix updates. As a result we are closing this bug.

If you can reproduce this bug against a currently maintained version of
Fedora please feel free to reopen this bug against that version. If you
are unable to reopen this bug, please file a new report against the
current release. If you experience problems, please add a comment to this
bug.

Thank you for reporting this bug and we are sorry it could not be fixed.
