Upstream tracker,
https://github.com/sddm/sddm/issues/246

Comment 2 Harald Reindl 2017-03-28 13:13:17 UTC
horrible that there is no progress within 3 years and it smells like Wayland would be production ready before that happens - will SSDM at least work with Wayland in a relevant point of time?

Comment 3 Rex Dieter 2017-03-28 13:19:41 UTC
Good question for upstream (development doesn't happen here in fedora)

Comment 4 Martin Bříza 2017-03-28 13:54:34 UTC
As far as I know, SDDM works with Wayland already.

Comment 5 Rex Dieter 2017-03-28 14:05:02 UTC
sddm can be used to start wayland user sessions, but sddm itself doesn't (use wayland) as far as I know.

Comment 6 Martin Bříza 2017-03-28 14:08:08 UTC
Well, that's what was Harald talking about, I guess.
Anyway, there's work on supporting X User sessions here: https://github.com/sddm/sddm/pull/673
And Wayland in the greeter here: https://github.com/sddm/sddm/pull/616

With some poking it could be done soon-ish.
