Didn't try the Promise Chipset. Version-Release number of selected component (if applicable): 2.4.22-1.2108.nptl How reproducible: Always Steps to Reproduce: 1. hdparm -d1 /dev/hda Actual Results: hdparm complains with an error, IDE-DMA is not supported Expected Results: DMA should be activated Additional info: Kernel only loaded Standard-IDE Driver: ide: Assuming 33MHz system bus speed for PIO modes; override with idebus=xx Patching in http://www.ussg.iu.edu/hypermail/linux/kernel/0309.2/0443.html and building a new kernel helps, now DMA is possible and activated automaticly.
