From Bugzilla Helper:
User-Agent: Mozilla/5.0 (X11; U; Linux i686; en-US; rv:1.4) Gecko/20030819

Description of problem:
When attempting to open the attached document, I can see a figure, and some
punctuation, but not most of the rest of it. Most documents I can successfully
open and read. This is one I cannot read, so I want to report it. The file is
/home/tiemann/DevProc.doc (how do I attach?).

Version-Release number of selected component (if applicable):
openoffice.org-1.1.0-2

How reproducible:
Always

Steps to Reproduce:
1. Open this doc using OO 1.1 under taroon
2.
3.

Additional info:

How do I attach a document to bugzilla?

Comment 2 Matt Wilson 2003-10-28 19:10:42 UTC
This is against OOo 1.1? wouldn't this be a bug against Fedora then?

Comment 3 Michael Tiemann 2003-10-28 19:13:28 UTC
Well, I installed OO 1.1 on Taroon. If this would be more appropriately filed
against Fedora, file it that way.

Comment 4 Dan Williams 2003-10-28 19:18:36 UTC
Is the default font for this document Times New Roman? If so I've seen this
with another doc as well and changing the font fixes that. So its a
remapping/substitution issue that I'll have to look into. Its going to be messy
though.

As a side note I've got successful builds here for 1.1.0-x on Taroon and would
like to get them out.

Comment 5 Michael Tiemann 2003-10-28 19:27:08 UTC
Yes, Times New Roman, but not trivial to change font (I tried). The font change
appears to have no effect. The font color is somehow Red, but the font color
change button doesn't work. When I do "Format->Character" I can apply color and
background changes (but still don't see the characters), but I cannot affect
color or background from the buttons in the tool panel.

Comment 6 Dan Williams 2003-10-31 18:53:56 UTC
Michael, can you try to make a New document, switch the font to Times,
and then type something? If I do that here, all the kerning and stuff
is correct, but the text is still white. So it looks like there's
some bad handling iwth the Times font. AFAIK OOo will remap Times New
Roman to Times anyway, but Times being blank is the real problem or at
least closely related. This is a big issue...

Comment 7 Dan Williams 2003-11-03 14:09:06 UTC
Please test this issue in 1.1.0-5.1 or later. It should be fixed there.

Comment 8 Michael Tiemann 2003-11-03 15:17:41 UTC
I confirm that 1.1.0-5.1 works as expected on the document I attached.
 Thanks!
