Thanks for a bug report. Evolution disabled all WebKit plugins on start, while one of the plugins you've installed is causing this crash. Tomas, could you remind me the folders where the plugins are stored, please? I know one is a system directly, another is a user directory. I also see in the backtrace that the plugin is probably related to > MozPlugger version 1.14.3, maintained by Louis Bavoil and Peter Leese, > a fork of plugger written by Fredrik Hübinette.<br>For documentation > on how to configure mozplugger, check the man page. (ty... if it's not a left-over from the previous plugin being managed by the function.
Milan, you are right that it crashed when it tried to load information about that plugin. These are the paths where WebKit is looking for plugins: /.mozilla/plugins /.netscape/plugins /usr/lib/browser/plugins /usr/local/lib/mozilla/plugins /usr/lib/firefox/plugins /usr/lib64/browser-plugins /usr/lib/browser-plugins /usr/lib/mozilla/plugins /usr/local/netscape/plugins /opt/mozilla/plugins /opt/mozilla/lib/plugins /opt/netscape/plugins /opt/netscape/communicator/plugins /usr/lib/netscape/plugins /usr/lib/netscape/plugins-libc5 /usr/lib/netscape/plugins-libc6 /usr/lib64/netscape/plugins /usr/lib64/mozilla/plugins /usr/lib/nsbrowser/plugins /usr/lib64/nsbrowser/plugins nspluginwrapper /usr/lib64/mozilla/plugins-wrapped /usr/lib/mozilla/plugins-wrapped And in directory that is defined by $MOZILLA_HOME env variable $MOZILLA_HOME/plugin and MOZ_PLUGIN_PATH env variable $MOZ_PLUGIN_PATH Hector, can you try to move that MozPlugger plugin out of the folder where it is and try to run Evolution again? I cannot give you the right path as it is not mentioned in backtrace.
Tomas, I have moved mozplugger.so out of /usr/lib64/mozilla/plugins and launched evolution successfully. Looks like indeed this is the problem. Does this mean i need to remove the plugin? or is there a way to exclude it from evolution. thanks for your assistance
Evolution segfaulted this morning after doing a full yum update and rebooting. Googling led to this bug (fortunately for me, since I removed ABRT). Sure enough, an strace showed that Evolution is crashing after it tries to load mozplugger.so openat(AT_FDCWD, "/usr/lib64/mozilla/plugins", O_RDONLY|O_NONBLOCK|O_DIRECTORY|O_CLOEXEC) = 21 getdents(21, /* 15 entries */, 32768) = 648 --- SIGSEGV {si_signo=SIGSEGV, si_code=SI_KERNEL, si_addr=0} --- +++ killed by SIGSEGV +++ Segmentation fault Per Tomas's suggestion, renaming mozplugger let Evolution launch without a problem. mozplugger-1.14.3-5.fc20.x86_64 : A generic mozilla plug-in evolution-3.10.4-2.fc20.x86_64 : Mail and calendar client for GNOME

Another user experienced a similar problem: I have started evolution, but it doesn't display anything, but has crashed. reporter: libreport-2.2.3 backtrace_rating: 4 cmdline: evolution -c calendar crash_function: WTFCrash executable: /usr/bin/evolution kernel: 3.17.3-200.fc20.x86_64 package: evolution-3.10.4-4.fc20 reason: evolution killed by SIGSEGV runlevel: N 5 type: CCpp uid: 1292
I tried to remove some mozplugin packages and found that the reason for the crash seems to the in the package gnome-chemistry-utils-mozplugin-0.14.9-2.fc20.x86_64 If I have installed gnome-chemistry-utils-mozplugin, then evolution crashes. If I have removed gnome-chemistry-utils-mozplugin, then evolution doesn't crash.

This message is a reminder that Fedora 20 is nearing its end of life. Approximately 4 (four) weeks from now Fedora will stop maintaining and issuing updates for Fedora 20. It is Fedora's policy to close all bug reports from releases that are no longer maintained. At that time this bug will be closed as EOL if it remains open with a Fedora 'version' of '20'. Package Maintainer: If you wish for this bug to remain open because you plan to fix it in a currently maintained version, simply change the 'version' to a later Fedora version. Thank you for reporting this issue and we are sorry that we were not able to fix it before Fedora 20 is end of life. If you would still like to see this bug fixed and are able to reproduce it against a later version of Fedora, you are encouraged change the 'version' to a later Fedora version prior this bug is closed as described in the policy above. Although we aim to fix as many bugs as possible during every release's lifetime, sometimes those efforts are overtaken by events. Often a more recent Fedora release includes newer upstream software that fixes bugs or makes them obsolete.
Fedora 20 changed to end-of-life (EOL) status on 2015-06-23. Fedora 20 is no longer maintained, which means that it will not receive any further security or bug fix updates. As a result we are closing this bug. If you can reproduce this bug against a currently maintained version of Fedora please feel free to reopen this bug against that version. If you are unable to reopen this bug, please file a new report against the current release. If you experience problems, please add a comment to this bug. Thank you for reporting this bug and we are sorry it could not be fixed.
